Hagop Goudsouzian is a Canadian-Armenian filmmaker with a passion for exploring cultural roots and identity.
After spending most of his professional life producing and directing mainstream television programs, he decided to dedicate himself to independent films. He finances his own productions for mainstream Television in HD.
He is the director of My Son Shall Be Armenian and Mon fils sera arménien, produced by the National Film Board of Canada, available in French and English.
He produced, directed and narrated Armenian Exile, a film on the quest for identity with English Subtitles.
Goudsouzian produced and directed Armenian Minstrels. A one-hour documentary on the famous Sayat-Nova Minstrel Song Ensemble and renowned Minstrels of Armenia. Filmed in HD with English Subtitles.
Goudsouzian also produced and directed Armenian Echoes, three-one hour documentaries on the Music of Armenia. Filmed in HD with English Subtitles.

Goudsouzian finances his own films: Armenian Exile, Armenian Minstrels, Armenian Echoes (three one-hour documentaries), Apricot Armenian Gold and UPROOTED, with no financial support. His investments include, the ongoing purchase and update of production and post-production equipment and the time it takes to produce a documentary, which can be anywhere from 6 to 8 months.
While it can take over $250,000 to produce a professional broadcast quality documentary. Hagop Goudsouzian as an experienced independent filmmaker does it for much less. He achieves this with the experience gained over thirty years in filmmaking, he researches, films, edits, composes, does the final packaging as well as web delivery and authoring DVDs and Blu-ray with his team.
His films are available on Vimeos's Video-On-Demand, on DVD and Blu-ray and have aired on various PBS stations.
